3 Qs FOR THIS WEEK IN SOCAL

Quality Local Event of the Week
Pro Padel League August 19-25th at the Barnes Tennis Center

The world’s best Padel players at Barnes for the first time in California history. Information & Tickets (General admission is free)

Quote of the week

Dave Miley on LinkedIn: I think the Tours should give points for the Olympic tennis event. Tennis is the only sport in the summer Olympics that does not count the results for their international rankings with even a new sport like golf counting their event for World ranking.

Question from readers

Paul M. in Hollywood asked: Why are there so few Padel clubs in Los Angeles County?

Rich Neher: The high cost of installation may play a role but rest assured, you will see many more Padel clubs here within the next 2-3 years..

PLAYER CLASSIFIEDS

NTRP 3.5 male looking for a team in West Los Angeles
Danny, 58, lives in the West Chester area. He’s looking for a 3.5 men’s or mixed team and can also play tournaments. If you know a team, please email Billy and he’ll pass it on.

WITTY RACQUET SPORTS

Pete Sampras on Brad Gilbert: “Brad’s got a good heart but I couldn’t take all the talking, discussing every angle, every shot when we practice. I would say to Brad, “Could you shut up for thirty minutes?”
(Agassy & Ecstacy by Paul Bauman)

Original Vic Braden quote:
Tennis is 100% mental. And the rest is luck!
