Conga Sports Drumbeat 27 for 12/16/24

A weekly racket sports resource with timely information about the local Tennis, Pickleball, Padel, and POP Tennis scene

Susan Nardi hits the tennis nail on the head!

Good Monday morning, everyone.

Are you getting into the holiday spirit yet? Well, as promised, I donated the $100 won by one of our readers (who rejected it) to the Holy Family Service Center at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Studio City. The people at the center were delighted because, for them, $100 goes a long way to feed the homeless.

This week, we added a bunch of new listings in the San Diego area, such as

  • Bobby Riggs Racket & Paddle Club in Encinitas

  • San Dieguito Tennis Club in Encinitas

  • Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma

  • Balboa Tennis Club in San Diego

  • Coronado Island Marriott, Coronado

More clubs to follow very soon.

Great Christmas Gift for Tennis Players

I can highly recommend writer Rod Heckelman’s new book “325 Ways To Play Tennis.” In fact, I read it and reviewed it for Racket Business three months ago. (BOOK REVIEW - 325 WAYS TO PLAY TENNIS)

I think this book would be a great Christmas gift for tennis players and beginners. You can buy it on Amazon.

I found a very good blog post written by one of Southern California’s finest teaching pros on SportsEdTV.

Susan Nardi’s post “Towards More Effective Tennis Coaching: In the Beginners’ Shoes” is well worth the read, folks! her answer for stopping the attrition of new players trying tennis for the first time: improving how we coach beginners! Check it out!

Each person is individually profiled and automatically added to their offline ‘black book’. Maclynn International extends an invitation to all Conga members and Drumbeat readers to become one of their Open Members. Maclynn's matchmakers commit their time to Private Members, individuals who pay for active service, then tap into their network of Open Members to hand-select the best matches and make one-on-one introductions. Pretty neat system, if you ask me.
